Sizing for big and multiple vehicles
The plot carport is sized by the tallest and widest thing on the stand, not by the cars. A boat on a trailer, a caravan and a double-cab with a canopy each need clearance a sedan does not, so the two numbers that change are beam height and span. Get them wrong and the caravan roof scrapes or the boat will not reverse in; get them right and one structure covers the lot.

Mid-posts, spans and reversing a trailer
A boat or a caravan on a trailer has to reverse into its bay, so the post layout matters as much as the height. KB Carports sets the mid-posts to line up with the gaps between vehicles, giving a clear reversing run for the trailer without a leg in the wrong place, and uses heavier galvanised steel sections and deep cast footings because a wide, tall roof on open veld carries more hail, wind and uplift.
